"Yes, I know Taylor...right, I'll make sure he doesn't pick and eat his boogers.....I know! Yea....ok, stop worrying about it! Uh, yes...no, he already promised not to eat the gum under the railings....Taylor...Taylor...TAYLOR!" The man had to finally yell into his cellphone before he could get the woman on the other line to finally stop talking. "I'm his father, I think I know what to do. Besides, it isn't like it's the first time I've been with him Shea. Hey, just go have a good time with your girl-friends, ok? I'll have him back to you by 4 o'clock tomorrow, bye." The young man finally was able to close the phone, and didn't even seem to mind the fact that the other hadn't even finished her sentence. The young blonde-haired boy sitting next to him sighed as he looked over the Special Agents badge in his hand, but said nothing for a few more moments. "Dad, is mom still mad that I ran away to find you?" "Eh...nah. She just wants to make sure your safe, ok buddy?" "Is she gonna hit you again next time you take me back?" "Let's hope not..." the man replied, chuckling, looking down at his son who giggled and smiled back. "Alright, come on!" the man groaned out as he stood up. As he did, he grabbed the boy up and swung him onto his shoulders, causing the boy to laugh out of delight. The young boy leaned against his father's brown hair and leaned over as far as he could to see his dad's face. Smiling, the father turned his brown eyes to look at the mess of blonde-hair that was gazing at him. He smirked, and chuckled again. "Here ya go Agent Alexandrew...Parker Booth!" the boy said as he reached the Agents badge more towards him. "Why thank you David Josiah Booth!" the older Booth said as he took the badge from his son and placed it on his belt.
The two Booth's were finally together again. It always felt like years had gone by when they were apart, and the times they were together always seemed to go by too quickly. But, Booth knew he had to abide by the Custoday Laws, especially if he wanted to continue to see his boy. David though, sometimes couldn't help getting impatient. After all, he was only six! The young boy that day, after school, had decided against being with his mother that day, and instead went off to find a local city guard. On finding him, all he had to do was tell the man he was "lost" and that his dad was on the Special Forces. Worked like clockwork. The guard took him straight to the S.F. Building where David was taken to a surprised, but glad, Booth. So here they were, together on a day they weren't meant to be together. But hey, why make David leave? Especially after he had developed such an ingenious plan!
Booth, ran around the fountain in the middle of the square, swerving around people, and making airplane noises as he went. The suit and tied man was making a fool out of himself, but it was for his son, and that was all that mattered. Finally though, the 36 year old was getting tired and had to finally take a seat on the concrete bench that encircled the fountain. Out of breath himself from all the laughing and screaming, David sighed while Booth took the boy from his shoulders and placed him on his lap. "Dad?" "Hmm?" "Am I gonna get to stay with you forever now?" The question was a pang to Booth's heart, and he hesitated to answer, but eventually he smiled and ruffled his son's hair. "You know we can't do that, bud! Your mom might miss you too much anyways..." he answered and watched while his son's smile faded. "But Dad, don't you miss me too when I'm not with you?" he questioned, looking almost worried at the answer. "Of course I do! Everyday. There isn't a day that goes by David that I don't miss ya, kay?" he smiled and gently poked David on the nose. The young Booth smiled again and looked down, then at the fountain.
"Hey, Dad? Can I have a coin?" he asked, still starring at the blue water. Forgetting where they were, Booth hummed a question mark and looked behind him before he was enlightened. "Oh! Yea! Of course..." he said and placed David on the ground before he stood up, moved his black blazer out of the way and dug into his black dress pants' pocket. Finally, after a moment, Booth pulled out a small gold coin and gave it to David. Taking the coin, David then looked up at his dad with a blank look. Through eye movements and small shuffles, he tried to get his dad to figure out that Booth was where he wanted to throw the coin. After a moment, Booth finally understood. "Oh, sorry buddy..." he mumbled, placing his hands in his pockets and stepping back a few paces. Pleased, David stood where his dad had once been and held the coin in between his fingers in both hands. Holding it in front of his face, David closed his eyes and mumbled something before he threw the coin into the once-still waters. Nodding his head, the young boy smiled and kept watching the coin as it sunk farther and farther away from the surface. Smirking once again, the older Booth walked slowly up to his boy and stood next to him. "What'd you wish for?" Booth asked. Smiling, he looked up at his old man. "If I tell you, will it still come true?" "Well we won't know unless you try." Booth mentioned, his brown eyes twinkling with amusement and love for the boy. "I wished...I wished that we'd get to see each other more often." the boy mumbled. Booth hoped that wish would come true too...
After a few more moments of silence, Booth had an idea. "Hey, why don't I get us some...ice cream!" Booth said, surprising the boy. "YEAH!!" David yelled out, a smile wider then the world crossing his face. Patting the boy on the shoulder, Booth nodded and told the boy to wait where he was. Nodding in agreement, the boy sat down on the fountain and swung his legs back and forth in anticipation. Booth stood there next to his son for a while... which was too long for the boy. "COME OnnnNNnn...!!" David whined, making Booth laugh and give up his game. "Ok, ok.." Finally, Alexandrew walked over to the cart. It seemed like just a minute that Booth turned his back on the boy, and it seemed that was long enough. Booth had just gotten the ice-cream, and immediately upon looking, Booth saw a man talking to David. Booth's David. And there was something else. The man looked quite familar. 'I know him...Garrens!' It was Tyler Garrens, a criminal wanted for abuse, murder, and thievery. A criminal...talking to his son?! That was definately not going to be accepted. Giving some random guy his ice creams, Booth kept his gaze on the killer, while pulling out his gun slowly from inside his blazer. Finally once he was only feet away, he whipped his gun out, pointing it at Garrens. Garrens quickly looked up bewildered, especially about how close Booth was. Booth's gun was only around two feet away from the guy, and blocking Garren's path if he wanted to get at Booth's son.
"T.S.F. Mr. Garrens, hands up!" Booth shouted aggressively. Eyes dilating, Garrens looked around and then finally at Booth. Slowly his hands began to go up, but half-way, Garrens took his hand and swung at Booth, striking the Agent in the nose. "Gah!" Booth shouted out in pain, leaving Garrens a chance to try to escape. Instincts told Booth took take a shot at Garren's leg, but in front of his son? He couldn't. Blood beginning to trickle down his nose, he growled and placed the gun back in its holster. "David stay here..." he ordered before he ran after the wanted man. In a matter of seconds, Booth was upon him and soon tackled him to the ground. Fear taking over, Garrens took a wild swing but completely missed. Then, thinking back to his military training, Booth decided to used one of his old army moves -- he grabbed the man's arm, twisted it back and then got back onto his own feet, carrying Garren's with him. Whining and swearing, Garrens tried to get free, but Booth's strong grip held him tightly in his place. "Tyler Garrens I'm placing you under arrest on charges of murder and thievary-" Booth stopped and took out his handcuffs, slapping them on Garrens with great speed."-you have the right to remain silent. Everything you say will be held against you in a court of law..." Booth rambled the normal, but put in a twist of his own: "And I would've thought twice before getting close to my boy..." Booth spat out and gripped Tyler Garrens even tighter, causing the scrawny man to wince. Finally, Booth turned around to look towards his boy, who was where Booth told him to be. His eyes were wide, full of excitement and admiration, making Booth smiled, but he quickly cleared his throat and frowned once more, trying to stay in uniform.
Finally, Booth took out his phone and quickly called up a Special Forces car to pick up Garrens and some back-up just to disperse the large crowd that had gathered. Seeing as they weren't far off from the S.F. Building, other Agents were there in minutes and gladly took the criminal off Booth's hands. When finally everything was cleared, Booth took off his blazer and swung it over his shoulder seeing as he wasn't in the mood to get it ruined. He had after all just got it cleaned. Finally, he went over to his son and sat down on the fountain, wiping the blood from his nose, sighing. David was quick to jump up right next to his dad, leaning on him. "This...was the best day ever." David said as he hugged his dad the best he could. Booth smiled and wrapped one big arm around his boy. They sat like that for a few minutes, but of course, the six year-old broke the moment. "Can we still get some ice cream?"

((Sorry it sucks.))
If there was one thing Morgan couldn't live without, it was coffee. Well, that was a bit of an exaggeration. Sure, there was the whole oxygen need, and the need for food, water, etc. But in order for Morgan Brooks to get her lazy self up and out of bed, and semi-functional, she needed coffee. So that morning, as she uncurled from her tight-knit position on her bed and scrambled around the source of the aggravating noise attacking her eardrums, it was discovered that her coffee machine had not been miraculously fixed since the previous night.
In her defense, it had been a late night for her. Pouring over endless details of bloody crime scenes and testimonies, her loyal espresso had been the only thing keeping her going. Eventually, over several cups and pushes of buttons, it had become a strange mixture of cappuccino, latte, espresso, and whatever else that could end up in a coffee cup, until finally the piece of machinery gave up on her. Morgan would later swear there was smoke coming from it.
Now she was faced with the challenge of surviving for the first hour without this warm drink - and the hour was looking ugly. Deep amber optics were accented by huge raccoon-like markings under her eyes, light brown hair tangled in an inconceivable mess. Although her doorframe ended up a little worse for wear, she managed to pull her hair back and get some clothes on that would help her look semi-respectable. And, to boot, she only had to return twice in search of her badge & gun!
She held onto the small piece of sense that told her that her wallet was a useful asset as well, and armed with this knowledge, set off to the nearest coffee shop. By this time her vision was becoming slightly less blurry, but her nose remained her largest ally as she stumbled about. Slapping down roughly five dollars on the counter, she soon departed with the largest size of espresso they had, along with a bagel (since Morgan decided eating was a good idea today).
Right across the coffee shop was a park, the scenery all too inviting for a mutt who was at least an hour early for work. Crossing her legs over each other, she sipped her espresso, just staring at the pictures in front of her until they finally began to make sense. The serial killer she was investigating... similarities in all three cases led her to believe there was a signature - and a very specific one at that. Leaping up with considerably more energy, she quickly assembled her photos and slid them back into her bag, all the while trying to get out her Blackberry.
At that exact moment something reached both her eyes and ears that was out of the ordinary. Narrowing her eyes at something across the street, Agent Brooks took off, forgetting about her Blackberry in her haste to grab her gun. A familiar scent washed over her, leaving her more confused than the hour allowed, and then the second scent made her forget all of that.
The mere presence of rust in her nostrils set her off, especially when the group of bystanders was growing by the moment. "Booth!?" Her shock must have carried in her voice, for several of the people around her looked up at the sight. Glaring at the people, she made a sweeping gesture, murmuring at them to get out of there. "Nothing to see - Special Forces. We've got it handled, go on with your days now..."
Turning her focus to the main group who was involved, she was just in time to see the large black SUV pull away, and to see her partner sit down with his son. Jogging over, irritation blazed in her eyes, hiding the fear and worry she let no one see. "What the-" Just in time to censor herself around the child, she stopped, coughing to cover her tracks. "What was that? Hey - you're bleeding!" Dimly she remembered there were a few napkins left from the café that she bought her bagel at, and she produced them with little flourish.
Tucking her gun away in her holster, she only just became aware of how white her knuckles had become from holding it. Hiding the fact that they were shaking, she pressed the cheap cloth to Booth's nose. "There's no such thing as a day off for you, is there Booth?" She muttered, grimacing as she put the napkin up to his nose. Finding herself in a kneeling position, this put her eye-to-eye with her partner's son, and she smiled lightly. "Hey there David. You two okay?"

KAO "Well! What a pleasent surprise! And what would drive you to such madness to be here?..." Booth said sarcastically as Morgan approached. But either way, he was glad to see her.
It had only been a few months now, but in a way, Booth felt like they had been friends for much longer. They had their differences, but still, they had become friends pretty quick. And everytime she was around...he felt something. He wasn't really sure why he felt the way he did, all he knew was it wasn't a bad thing. So for a minute there, Booth got lost in his own world, thinking about everything. It just seemed weird he guessed, how life worked. It seemed to pull people around, people together, and people apart, as if everyone were just puppets on strings. But her words finally brought him back, like they always did.
Finding that he was looking down, he turned his gaze towards her, a look of confusion and concern on his face. "What? Bleeding? Oh...right. You see I was--" he began but he was soon cut off when she placed the napkins she had under his nose. Blinking down his nose, he glanced down at the napkins, then her fingers, until they finally rested back onto her eyes. Booth smirked at the gesture, "Thanks Blue..." he said in a nasally voice, using the nickname he had given her quite a while back. Placing his hand over hers he guided her hand that contained the napkins up a little more. "I think...I think this is really where it hurts..." he said between short little winces. "You don't think it's broken do ya?" he asked her before he finally let his hand slide off her own and back onto the stone bench he was sitting on.
"HI BLUE!!!" "David!" Booth quietly responded(still quite nasally in tone) almost immediately after he son blurted out his own comment. Though Booth didn't mind David speaking, he had already told him a thousand times to be polite to girls, and to call them by their proper names. He guessed he wasn't setting that good of an example...but he had just forgotten. Oh how embarassing...once she had come on the scene he had almost forgotten why he was really at the park in the first place. Closing his eyes, he prayed that he could forgive himself. But he quickly got over it, deciding next time he wouldn't be so one-minded. But he was man...not much he could do about that. As that therapist had said at the Agent meeting(that he was forced to go to or he'd lose his job), men are like waffles, and woman, like spaghetti.... But moving on.
"Oh, sorry Ms. Brooks...but yea, we're doin' GREAT!! Did'ja see my dad hit that guy?" he told her excitedly, standing up as his excitement grew. "He was all boom! And...bang!" David said as he swung his arms wildly in the air, apparently trying to bunch an invisible foe. But one of his punches got just a little out of hand and he began to lose his balance! "Woah, champ!" Booth exclaimed as, using his hand closest to David, he helped keep the boy's balance before he fell back into the water behind him. Booth turned to Morgan and smiled and then turned back to catch David as the boy collapsed with a contented sigh onto Booth's shoulder, a smirk lighting up his boyish features once again. "He's like...a superhero. Don't you think so Ms. Brooks?" Of course, Booth had no choice but to smirk, he turned his brown eyes to look into Brooks' own hazel eyes again, before he rolled his. But as he did so, his smirk never faded from behind the napkins she still had to his nose.
Suddenly though, his phone began to sing out "United States of Whatever" at full blast. Startled, Booth quickly reached into his back pocket. 'Great.' It was the Bureau calling him during his relaxtion time! Sighing, he answered the phone with the same routine. "Agent Booth." But after that, he said nothing else and just listened. Taking in a sigh, he nodded and then finally spoke, "Alright, I'll get on it...and yes I do sound nasally....Sir I'm not sure if that's relevant...." he grumbled as one of his superiors seemed to still want to make conversation. "...I...I got hit in the nose Sir. No I'm fine...and ok...um...gotta go..." he finally mumbled and closed his "old-fashioned" flip-phone. Placing the phone back into his pocket, he gave Brooks a pretty annoyed and almost a worried look.
Taking her hand away from his nose, he smiled and then used both his arms to grab David and place him back where his feet belonged, firmly on the ground. "David, stay right here ok? And keep my jacket safe?" he winked to his son as he threw the black blazer at him, preferring the freedom the white-collared shirt and his gun holster(that fit quite comfortably around his shoulders) gave him. "Ok, Dad!" David smiled as his dad threw the blazer over his head, making him giggle. Pulling it down, he smiled at his old man and then put the blazer on, which was way too big for him of course. Chuckling, Booth pointed to his own eyes and then, with one finger, at David in a playful gesture. But now, it was time to get to work. "Well, guess who that was? Yep, the Big Guys..." the Agent told Brooks in a quieter tone, not allowing her to answer his question either. "They just told me, that they just found another body...about 5 miles from here..." he frowned, his hands on his hips as he looked about before looking back at Brooks.
Yep, another body. Did this city ever stop to examine the value of a life? But, there was nothing they could do now. Nope, now it was time for Brooks and Booth to solve another murder; do what they do best. Though the feelings Booth felt on hearing about these cases never changed. He still felt a little disgusted by the fact that bodies kept poppin' up like wildflowers, but he knew what he did was important. And anyone could bet that he'd make sure that this new sicko was caught, just like the rest of those sickos had and are. As long as he remembered what kind of feelings of grief those criminals caused the familys of those they killed, he had no problem getting up every morning. He'd do it again and again, just to make sure this town was just a little safer for his friends -- for his son. "You ready to head out now Blue?"

Morgan didn't spare her partner the satisfaction of looking at all ruffled from his sarcastic comment. He shouldn't be complaining at all, really. After all, he was the one who got smacked ad was bleeding all over the place! Balancing on the balls of her narrow feet, she merely raised an eyebrow, ignoring the sarcasm. Morgan didn't shift her focus from the bleeding nose, but raised a slender eyebrow as her own voice took on a dry quality. "There was no coffee at my place. I decided to do something about it before work."
Behind the sarcasm and the dry words, Morgan was just beginning to calm herself down. The fear that had gripped her since she first smelt the blood was terrifying, threatening to send her right back into a world where no one could reach her. Ever since her partner died in the line of duty right before her eyes, Morgan had been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, a disorder that could manifest itself in any scenario that reminded her of her partner's death.
"Shh... don't worry about it." Brooks murmured softly, silently adding the fact that their superiors would know soon enough. "Yes - blood typically is red stuff that comes from your body." Defending herself and those surrounding her from being pulled into a pity-party, she kept the comments coming, shielding herself from the real scenario. Once she heard her nickname, one of her eyes closed partially in displeasure before she rolled it and it's counterpart.
Taking her off guard, Booth's large hand fit over hers, instantly molding to adjust to the two agents. Blinking quickly, she remained silent, letting her arm stretch to where Booth was taking it. Scrutinizing the area, she gave a small sigh, shrugging. "Well, I don't really know. How much does it hurt to touch it?"
Blinking in surprise, her hand flew from Booth's nose for a moment before David's presence fully registered. Apparently Booth was rubbing off on his son, it seemed, and she turned back to her partner briefly before greeting the kid. "Hey Kiddo.." Trailing off a little, she let his father chastise him for a moment, spurring a rare grin onto Morgan's face. "Nah... that's fine. I don't really mind. You're another story though."
Dabbing to get some of the last bit of blood, she deposited the one bloody napkin a few inches away before turning to fully appreciate David's tale. "Your dad hit someone David?" Her shock registered on her face, and she gave Booth another quick look that demanded an answer. However, the skill of small children was prevalent in David, as the agent turned her hazel optics towards the boy again.
Eyes widening in surprise, she was about to say something in response just when she saw him lose his balance. Silently she leapt forward, grabbing the arm Booth had left to flail, before the two balanced the excitable tot just in the nick of time. As the blood in Booth's nose demanded liberation, she magically procured another one to stop the bleeding, shaking her head in wonder. The boy's face appeared inches away from the adults, and she made an attempt at a smile while dabbing at the blood again.
"Uh.." There was a few moments of awkward pause before Brooks finally had an idea of what to say. "Yeah, sure. He does his job very well." Meeting Booth's gaze, Morgan shrugged, folding the soiled napkins up and tossing them into the nearby trash can while Booth took his call. Returning just before he was done, Morgan stood up in front of the two, fingering her wallet just before she put it back in her pocket. Where the hell did I put my blackberry...? Perking up just as a familiar vibrate echoed across the street, she sighed, putting her hand on her forehead. At least no one stole it...
Looking up again, she saw the cute interaction between father and son, waiting patiently with her hand on her throat before her partner turned to her again. Walking at around a foot shorter than he was, Morgan correctly assumed his question was rhetorical, nodding at the end of the sentence. "Hold on, lemme grab my blackberry that I left over there." Over and back in a second, she was just sliding back into her pocket before she started again.
"I was looking over our current case last night & I think I found a signature. We'll have to see if this is the same guy or not - but now it could be a lot easier to figure it out." Folding her arms against her abdomen, she chewed a little on her lip, mulling the facts over. Startled by another flash of red just a foot above her, Brooks' reaction was purely instinctual - up on the tips of her toes with another hand on his shoulder to steady herself, her touch was feather-light trying to not hurt him. There was a moment before she stepped down again, handing her last napkins from the cafe over, trying to hide the fact that the contact had flustered her.
"... Here. Looks like you're going to be bleeding for a little while longer." Sighing, she looked back over at David, before noting the resemblance between the two males. "Booth - you're forgetting you have a kid. You can't just leave him here, can you?" [/color]

SHAI A White beast happened to be strolling around the city, a smirk upon his face as blood from a fairly fresh kill lingered on his tongue. Not a soul passing by would even consider the tall pale man capable of the deed he had done, the slaying of a human in broad daylight, but he had indeed done it. And this was not a first for the being who called himself Reiketsu. The wolf strode on, playing through his mind the look that was forever etched onto the face of the unfortunate soul that he had targetted. There was no reason for the brutal take-down, it was simply the cold-hearted, and murderous, nature of the male. The smirk on Rei's face only grew as he anticipated the reactions of the local City dwellers as they came across the gruesome scene. It was his memoir, his calling card if you will, to tell the ignorant fools that he was here, and he was capable of horrible things. The one thing that set rei apart from any other murderer out there on the streets was always the fact that his muders looked like the act of an enraged animal...which, as a matter of fact, he was...most of the time. The humans couldn't possibly comprehend how much more damage he could do other than a few severed and torn limbs, as well as a missing bite-sized chunk of flesh here and there.
An early summer breeze lightly ruffled the Silver and white hair that topped reis head, and the ancient beast closed his sharp amber eyes for a moment, lifting his nose into the air and dragging in a deep breath. What the wind carried brought a curious 'hm?' from the male, a grin slowly creeping up to take place of the questioning expression as he immediately placed the scent, as well as the sound of a chase. Fresh blood drew in the wolf like a magnet, and he could never deny the attraction that the scent had on him as he quickened his pace to a light jog, his footsteps falling silently on the hard pavement as he neared a crowd. What he saw slightly dissappointed him. A man was simply being arrested and he tried to run, only to be caught. The wolf looked on from the crowd, easily towering over everyone with his massive height of 6'6" and getting a clear view of every detail as he searched to see where atleast the blood was coming from. His ears pricked forward the slightest bit, spotting a man hunched over with a few small spots of the crimson substance at his feet. He subconciously ran his blue tongue over his lips just slightly, before running them over his teeth, tracing the jagged points and curves as he eyed the man, about to edge forward until a womans voice rang out from behind him, telling everyone that the situation was under control and that everyone should move along.
Irritated, rei looked over his shoulder and eyed the woman who was slowly shouldering her way up to the front, a gun drawn. Frankly, she looked like hell. Her face was gaunt, the bottom of her eyes somewhat puffy, and her hand somewhat shaking. She looked frail overall, making him wonder if it really would take any force to shove her aside. Though, he silently watched on as she seemed to recognize the bleeding man, and called to him by name. Booth. Slowly, the crowd started disspersing, leaving him to watch the two from a few yards off. The crimson seemed to be coming from a bloody nose accquired during the chase. Rei wasn't paying attention to them, so much as they the small boy that was next to the man, 're-enacting' what had gone down. It actually made the dangerous male smile, his grin allruing, yet chilling in its own way. He turned his attention back to the elder patrons, watching as the fae continued to tend to the males bloodied nose. His ears pricked forward suddenly, the man startling himself as his phone rang off loudly before answering the call.
The wolf smiled broader, ears picking up on the words from the other side of the line. So, they had found his present quickly it seemed. Maybe next time he would make it more of a challenge, give to corpse time to rot so the meer stench would be enough to give it away. Reiketsu was brought back from his thoughts, watching as the male and female wandered off, but not before telling the younger to stay put, holding the males jacket close in his arms while they converesed a few yards away. The murderous creature saw his chance, and strode up to the young boy, looking down at him with an almost caring smile before crouching down in front of him, his hands resting on his knees as he looked into the boys hazel eyes. He could clearly see the resembelance between him and the man with the bloody nose, and wondered if the scrawny twig of a woman was his mother. Rei tilted his head, smiling wider to atleast try to appear friendly before he spoke. "Hey kd, what're you doing all alone over here? Shouldn't you be with your parents?" he questioned, casting glances around as if looking for something before returning his amber eyes back to the small boy. He could smell it on the kid, that he was animal. A Wolf hybrid maybe? He couldn't be sure. Hell, he didn't even know why he was talking to the kid in the first place. Maybe it had to do with the news kaze had shared with him? No. That COULDN'T BE IT. Rei was no softy, and had claimed the countless lives of pups before. The pups of the ancestors of the wolves who opened paradise. With a heavy sigh, rei swung around to take a seat next to the boy on the steps, where the man had been seated before he went to talk to the woman privately, and he again looked upon the boy, listeinging and mulling over his words in his mind.

It seemed so weird that Brooks almost always knew what needed to be said for any situation. She knew how to cheer him up, and she knew how to make him feel guilty. Heck, he was pretty sure she could pull his strings for any thrill she desired.
"You know, it doesn't hurt all that much anymore, Blue." he told her, putting emphasis on the name as she began to once again clean the blood from the never-ending stream that came from his nose. He really couldn't resist calling his partner Blue, he could call it a 'bad habit'. Yes, he had seen the look she had given him when he had said it before, but he couldn't help making her twitch in annoyance again. For one, it was cute, and two, well, a little mischief never seemed too hurt...well sometimes it could. Taking a step back from her so she could do no more cleaning, he smiled at her and pushed her hand back down. "I'm ok Brooks..." he mumbled, before suddenly remembering that his name was still not cleared after David had done that little demonstration. "Oh and about the whole hitting thing, I didn't hit anybody, ok?! You know David, he likes to exaggerate a little...well alot." Booth shrugged as he thought about his son. He loved the boy, but it was true that the kid liked to get carried away with things. Kinda like his old man.
Smirking, he looked down at his watch, before looking straight past Morgan towards the crowds. "Well, if we go now we can get there in 5 min-" he stopped and then looked over at Brooks as she spoke of his son. She was right, he couldn't leave him, and he couldn't take him to the crime scene. Who knew how much therapy his son might have to have after that! And he definately was not taking him to Sweets so he could be analyzed by a 16-year old...
Meanwhile, David sat patiently on the fountain bench, one cheek resting on his hand covered by his dad's blazer that quite easily went past the six year old's hand. Right now, there was nothing to do. He still didn't have any ice-cream to stuff his face with, no one to play airplane games with, and in general no one to talk. He never was fond of when Dad had to get back to work, though he understood that his dad couldn't always be there. As Booth did say, "Someone has to bring home the bacon for little boys to eat!". But right now, at this age, David Booth could care less about bacon -- he had already said he had wanted ice cream! Frowning and pushing his lips out, David tried to think of something to do, but nothing came to his mind. Lucky for him, he didn't have to think on his own, it seemed the universe was going to do it for him. As if an answer to a prayer, someone did come around to entertain him just when he needed it the most! Though he wasn't expecting the blessing to come to him it the way it did. Instead it came in the form of a weird looking guy with an even odder fashion sense. As he approached, Baby Booth watched with his brown eyes fixed with curiosity. Eyesbrows arched, David was quite suprised when the man crouched down in front of him, and then sat down beside him. Leaning away from the man so he could look up at his face, David sat there for a few minutes, his mouth slightly ajar. His dad was tall, but not even close to this tall! Listening with only half the care, David blinked and waited for the odd man to finish his sentence, even though he wasn't even focusing on what the man had asked. Instead, he asked his own question. "Why are you wearing a dress?"
His back still turned on the fountain, Booth sighed as he tried to think of what to do. "I guess we could Be a little late. You wanna ride with me back to my place? I can drop off David and-" but once again, Booth stopped in mid-sentence. His parental instincts kicking in, Booth began to feel his heart sink, and his ears began to burn. Placing one hand on his cold gun, Booth took a deep breath before he turned around, his grip tightening on his gun. And, like his gut always was, he was right to feel the way he did. A deep growl plagued his throat as he stared at his son, then the guy, the son of a bitch that dared to sit next to him. His lip twitching, his shoulders tensed up as he began to get the scent of wolf coming from the beast of a man. Quick like vengeance, his protectiveness over his own flesh and blood took a hold of the Agent. Before moving, he touched Brooks' shoulder with his hand, before he quickly went over to the man, the same thought going through his head. 'That's my son...That's my son!'
Not thinking, or even caring about the consequences, Booth trotted over to the two and grabbed the illusioned-wolf by the collar of his dress-thing, pulling the guy up off the bench, Booth now between his son and the towering beast. "Can I help you?!" he growled his anger before he let go of the man, all the while gritting his teeth behind his frown. He didn't know who the hell this guy thought he was, nor did he care, but this guy had messed with his son, and that was enough to get Booth involved everytime.

SHAI (>< sorry, i know it's uber short. i was relying on kikis reply for some of the post too, but ah well >> next time it'll be longer)
Ambers blinked at the boys astonished face, taking in it with a very slightly confused expression before he remembered most people weren't nearly as tall as he. Reiketsu was rather speechless when instead of an answer, he got the boys question in return. Instead of his usual reaction, rei forced a new one, grinning sheepishly and rubbing the back of his head "It's not a dress...but if ya think my kimono's weird, you should see the color of my tongue." he said, swallowing the last bit of blood from his blue tongue before sticking it out, a small smirk caressing his face. For that fleeting moment, as the smile lingered on his face, rei actually felt a small tinge of actual happiness. Not the kind he got from killing, but the happiness that made his stomach flutter that tiny bit. His ear twitched beneath his illusion, the sound of pounding footsteps coming closer making reis hackles rise. The hand on the collar of his kimono shirt earned a snarl from the pale beast, the meer thought of being touched by another animal sending enough rage through him to bring his human form down, revealing the massive wolf he really was, the fur around his muzzle tainted a pinkish color, having not been thoroughly cleaned. The rage from the other was easily visible on his human guise, the gun not going un-noticed by those sharp amber eyes.
The words the agent spoke amused the old beast, especially his tone. It was obvious that his feeling for his own offspring was enough to drive him this far, and he wondered how far he could take being pushed before the final snap. Grinning, reis lips lifted, revealing first the large canines that he harboured, then he opened his jaws to release an almost demonic chuckle. It could hardly pass for one, the noise closer resembling gravel being crushed to be mixed into cement. "Help me? Heh, no, not at all. I was just curious as to what kind of idiotically oblivious parent would be so stupid as to leave their child unattended." he spoke in a smooth, cocky tone. "As you see before you, not everything in the city is to be automatically considered 'safe', my dear dog." he again prodded at the agent, seeing which buttons he pressed would bring him closer to the explosion he was looking for. Speaking of the boy, rei let his orbs fall upon him once again, letting his lips fall to hide the dangerous knives in his jaws as he smiled yet again. "Say, kiddo, why don't ya go with the nice lady your dad was talking to while we... sort this out." Rei suggested with an eerie smirk, knowing full well that the father would have to choose between keeping his child behind him and risking the enemy getting past him, or letting his child run for cover with the fae, but putting him at risk as he would have to pass his large frame to get to her. Either option was not very welcoming, but the only other option was to tell the child to run. And what better way to trigger predatory instincts than telling a small creature to run?

What was with old men in the square? On usual days, most people kept their distance, usually caught up in their work or just the plain business of the day that swept them up into a frenzy. No one usually minded little David, but today... Well, let's just say it was weird. Gulping back the fearful frogs that were leaping around inside him, David tried to hide the shiver that was sent down his spine as this menacing-in-looks weirdo in a dress kept speaking to him. Not wanting to get more involved in this conversation the man kept persisting they have, the youngest Booth turned his worried gaze towards his father's back, hoping that soon his dad would turn around and say the right things as he always did. Unfortunately, David got no such response from the busy Agent and was forced to look back at the tall figure beside him so the man wouldn't get suspicious about what the six-year old was actually feeling just under the surface: fear. He hated to admit that he was truthfully fearful of someone he barely new and who hadn't expressed any hostilities, but there was something about size that makes everyone a little judgmental, including a very small boy who could do little to defend himself. Though he did admit he felt he could spit with deadly accuracy.
Forcing a smile and a nod as the ridiculously tall stranger explained that he wasn't wearing a dress(though David still didn't change his mind on what it was), David scooted down a little bit more before he let his brown eyes wander about for anything that could help him in this situation! But of course, in the time of his greatest trial, nothing appeared to save the day. Looking back out of the corner of his eye, David watched as the man wearing a dress stuck his blue tongue out enough for the boy to be able to see the weird dangling thing at the back of the throat. Mouth twisting so one said was open, and his eye slightly twitching, David portrayed the characteristics of disgust and an uncomfortable feeling; the blinking of his eyes adding to that. Unlike most kids his age, David was unimpressed and uninterested feeling he'd probably be much happier with a girl's toy then be around this guy and his...weird...blue tongue. And that was saying a lot! "That's really weird...and gross." David mumbled, his eyes shifting to focus on everything else but the man for a moment. But suddenly, the teachings and studies of Booth began to trigger in his head, helping the boy feel a few different emotions. All the time, Booth always made sure he made eye contact, showing no fear -- that was the first and most vital step. Second, to stand tall, make sure you're the one with the higher ground: Of course, that wasn't literally possible, but David was sure if he built up enough bravery and courage, he stand taller than the skyscrapers in the city. And last, never lose hope, never lose faith. If that was lost, if you no longer had the will to fight, you became weak and vulnerable and opened yourself up to attack. So, David put his faith and hope in the only bank he trusted: Dad; Serving and protecting since Day One.
Now each step completed, David stuck out his chest and looked up into the syrup colored eyes of the big, bad stranger. And almost immediately, the steps proved to work. His quivering stopped, he felt empowered, and he wasn't afraid. With a frown that very easily resembled Booth's, David gritted his teeth before he became bold enough to speak up. "I just kinda want to be left alone right now, sir. I don't mean to be rude, but I don't really need to be talking to you right now..." David blinked as he spoke, wishing he could sound as menacing and strong as his dad did when he spoke. At the thought of his dad, David felt the need to have his father beside him overwhelm him, and a glint of fear sparked in his eyes before he covered it up , a smoke and mirrors act really. Then suddenly, David's eyes alighted with relief as he saw the white shirt of his father block the view of the odd stranger who he desired to see no more. Booth's presence intervening and comforting him, David relaxed as he realized he was tense, though the relaxation didn't last long as the fear of what Booth was getting into himself into crept into David's thoughts, bringing on a clammy feeling as well as the roller coaster that sent his heart and stomach on a ride. But though the fears for his father never faded, the smallest Booth still felt safe and protected; Dad wasn't going to let anything happen to him, despite the beating he might get in the process. 'I'm going to be just like him someday'
There was something about the territory parental instincts came with that Booth enjoyed more than anything: No matter how hard the task, or how big the obstacle, there was nothing too big that would stop one from doing whatever it took to destroy the nightmares that plagued your kid. Nothing. The love for the one you remembered grasping your one finger in their fist was never fading and gave the confidence that was needed to be there for them through it all was more than overwhelming, it was intense and swallowed you whole, sending you into the belly of the beast where there you were tested, you were tried, and you couldn't afford be found wanting.
Having of already faced the beast more then once, Booth stood at the ready, ready for the next showdown. Sure, this guy might have been the biggest of the beasts he had ever faced, but nonetheless, love conquered all all the time and he was sure it wouldn't fail this time around. Seeing through the illusion, Booth said and did nothing; this brute couldn't scare him. Maintaining the cool he always clung to, Booth showed no emotion towards the attempts the large wolf made to threaten him, undaunted and obviously not amused. Canine features now predominant over the human, Booth flicked his always vigilant ears forward, taking in the sounds of the city, of the people, to his son -- the most important sound. But of course, not every sound was pleasing to his sensitive ears. The sound the giant wolf made caused him to cringe in annoyance, but that was nothing compared to the words that singed the insides of his canine ears as the man's insults bombarded him with urge to snap. But despite, Booth knew he had an audience behind him in the shape of one, and he couldn't let him down, not in front of his apprentice. Ear twitching, Booth's hackles raised just slightly, but he quickly let it go, he couldn't let this guy come onto his turf and manipulate the game. Booth had to maintain a constant on his emotions, for David, for Brooks who stood only a little ways behind this guy. That was it: Brooks. Partners, they always held each other's backs, and together? They were virtually unstoppable. And it helped to have some motivation in the form of a small child to never give in. "David, you get behind right behind me. Right now." Booth ordered the pup who did as he was told without hesitation. Chocolate eyes never turning away from the beast, Booth backed up with his side to the wolf until David was at his side, hidden from view. "You stay with me buddy, ok? I'll be right here, stay right by me." Booth whispered to the boy who he could feel was shaking in the slightest.
Protective as always, especially over such a sensitive subject, the wolf-dog's words quickly snapped into play almost right after the larger pure-bred wolf had spoke to his child. "Don't you dare speak to him!" he snarled, his tail raising to almost a full height and his hackles raised in their entirety. This was his kid! His kid! And no bastard with a big ego was going to come in here and think it was okay to come straight to his boy. His illusion once again, Booth pulled his gun out of his holster, pointing the merciless metal at the monster. "Just know, I'm a crack shot." Booth smirked, though his anger never left his gaze. Okay, he tried to look tough and together, but at this moment, Booth didn't know what he was going to do. Feeling confident he could keep his son safe, Booth didn't worry in his direction. No, he was much more worried about his partner's safety then anything. "Brooks?!...." he yelled out, hoping Brooks had her gun trained on the stranger, backing him up like she always did.
"Dad?..." David mumbled as he stared upwards to look at the strong father who was showing devotion David only wished he'd someday possess. He didn't know exactly what he wanted to say, he just knew he was afraid, and that one syllable always brought a rain of pride and comfort to the six-year old. "David, I want you to do everything you're told okay? Don't ask me questions right now, I need you to just stay focused." he told the frightened kid quietly, though his voice was still calm and soothing even in such a quiet tone. Nodding, David agreed, grabbing onto his dad's belt loop and his white shirt with his other hand.
Gun steadied, Booth tried not to think about his kid, trying to picture it as just a regular situation where his deepest emotions couldn't find ways of escaping outside of him. Alright, now was the moment. Focused and keeping strong, Booth decided to play the offensive, praying that Brooks had a better plan then he could think up. Maybe, maybe if he distracted the dress-clad man long enough and well enough, Brooks could make her way to the other side of the fountain and to his boy? Or at least far enough away he knew he could shed the beast's blood before it could touch his partner. I t didn't matter what she did, as long as she didn't place herself into harm's direct line of sight and got to David safe and sound.
Finding this was the only thing he could in this situation, Booth turned to his lowest tactic on the scale: distraction. "Alright, what's there to sort out...big dog? I mean, this can just all end right here if you just walk away. Hey, I think that's a great way to 'sort things out', by you turning around, and getting out of my town." the man said, his voice not leaving room for any talk back or humor. Alright he had done it, he had begun to talk, to hold his ground, feeling it wouldn't be in vain if he could make sure both Brooks and David were out of there. If this guy thought he was going to hurt either one of them, the beast was in for a surprise. He could be sure to find all the bullets he possessed crammed into his heart before he could even flash one pretty canine. damn straight.
((Okay, yes, it sucks. xD Sorry. Around the end my muse died and I got tired...lemme know if you're so disturbed by this horrid ending you feel the need of an immediate change in content. >< Isn't proof-read. ))

As soon as her partner had noted her response and seen the man talking to his son, Brooks was on high alert. She'd grow to care for the kid after a while, but at this point all he was was her partner's son. Still, that was enough for her to leap into action. Not quite as trigger-happy as Booth was, Brooks still followed behind, letting her paws dance in shoes over the pavement, instinctively flanking Booth, coming up from behind him and to the right.
As Booth grabbed the creep, Brooks couldn't help feeling the slight prickle of relief on the back of her neck, knowing that at least David was safe. However, seeing as how the guy towered over both Booth and her (which wasn't hard to do), she had more than enough reason to be on edge. Her hand on her gun holster, Brooks merely blinked as Rei's canines exposed, merely confirming his scent. His chuckle resounding through her ears made her shiver, as if his mere presence was shattering.
Quickly snapping to attention as she was mentioned, her hazel orbs locked onto Rei's ambers, glaring silently, daring him to just try anything while the two agents were around. In their own world, hidden by the city and away from other beasts like them, Booth and Brooks were in their element - the most powerful in the form of agents. But the female of the two was instantly made aware of really, when it came down to it, how vulnerable they all were. As mentioned, Brooks slipped her hand into the tiniest Booth's, squeezing it lightly as she lifted him up and set him behind her, behind Booth. Only when the kid was secure behind her did Brooks dare look at Booth for confirmation, guidance as to what to do next. This time around, Booth was running the show.
One hand grasped the smaller one, flooding support and guardianship, while the other rested on her gun. Not once did her hand shake as she stared down the threat, hunched over only slightly to accommodate for the boy's smaller size. Reassuring herself that David would be safe as both adults were within a four foot radius, Brooks rearranged herself so she was facing Rei just slightly behind her partner, her hand finally drew the gun that she had been putting off using, lifting the muzzle until it pointed towards him.
Listening carefully to Booth and watching his body language like a hawk, Brooks desperately tried to understand what he wanted her to do with his son. One thing was clear - David needed to be kept safe at (almost) ANY cost, and she figured that the man opposing them would not take kindly to Brooks picking up both of her guys and running for the hills. Carefully readjusting her gun so that it was in her one right hand, Brooks racked her brain for just what grounds they could arrest him for. The only immediate danger was the guns in the agents' hands, and the fangs that all three possessed. Stepping forward, she felt as if she should provide a united front on this manner. "I suggest you listen to him, and just leave." Stepping closer than she needed to, a few steps in front of Booth, she kept her distance from Rei just large enough to keep herself comfortable, but short enough so (She hoped) Rei would get just a little intimidated.

SHAI Rei watched the young child with an amused smirk, the pup seeming to pick up on the danger that sat just to his side. His glances around the area and back around the wolfs bodice did not go un-noticed, making the male smile even wider. He would always be forever fascinated with the way that children could seem to pick up on the subtle hints that another being gave about their true nature. That is, before the rough interruption by the father that seemed to rush in so easily without a second thought it seemed. The subject of fatherhood again brought up the thought of kaze and the litter she carried for a split second, but he quickly shoved the thought into the very back of his mind, not wanting his thoughts and emotions to collide and get him torn just yet.
Amber orbs no longer payed mind to the pup, the murderous eyes much more fascinated with the male who still smelt slightly of the blood that had been dripping from his small wound. The small form of david was soon swept behind the larger frame of his father, the latter not looking very pleased with the idea of a mangy wolf from paradise talking to his own son. Rei was rather...unimpressed with the father, paying no attention to the woman as she came around shortly behind him, taking young david by the hand and being sure to keep him from his sight, both training steel barells at him. Things couldn't seem to get more interesting, a living lunar beast versus two armed hybrids in the middle of a town center. Booths response to when rei had tried to get his son out of the way earned another, larger grin, scoffing. "What, don't approve of a strangers advice? And 'sides, who the hell cares if I talk to the kid. Not like I was planning on bringing him home as a pet, sir." He spoke, his tone suggesting passiveness, until his laugh pierced the air again at his last comment of a pet.
The two would need more than just gleaming fire-arms to deter this beast, who had dealt with being rained upon by bullets many times before. Comfortable, even with the guns trained upon him, rei strode back towards the fountain, a good 9 or so feet away from them before jumping upon the ledge and walking its path before stopping a good lunge away, sitting and letting his paw swirl around the water. He watched the ripples, ambers transfixed upon the liquid for a few seconds before the comment of both the male and female rang through his ears. He had no time to keep in his loud barking laughs, standing up upon his fours and nearly doubling over with even more laughter.
Bringing his gaze up, rei simply shook his head, laughing in their faces now. "You think this is YOUR town?! You HONESTLY think that's the case!?" he managed to get out before he again nearly toppled over laughing for a moment, his head jerking up to reveal the psychotic grin playing upon his lips. "That call you answered, about the new body. From yours truly~." He cackled out, lifting his illusion before giving them a bow. "Hell, almost ALL of them have been from me! This town does NOT belong to you. You're meerly at the mercy of the others and myself." he again spoke out to the three, not caring what they did or thought about the words that rolled so smoothly off his tongue as his gaze bored deep down into the eyes of each and every one of them.

Blah, blah, blah, blah blah. Did this guy ever shut up? Besides who did he think he was -- God? Then again, which criminal didn't. He was just some other freak show that needed to be taken down, and Booth was more than willing to be the one to do it. But he couldn't if he knew David and his partner were in danger. A growl escaping his throat at the thought of this creep even touching a hair on one of their heads, coming this close to throwing him into a fit. But, he kept his calm, he couldn't lose it right now.
Gun still pointed in the giant wolf's direction, Booth ignored any and all of his comments, finding they had no importance to him. He was a thief and murderer, why should his opinions matter? Gaze narrowing though, Booth couldn't help but cock is gun in alarm as the beast of a wolf leaped up onto the fountain. 'What the hell is with his guy? Taunting me for one....of all people he decided to mess with...' Snorting his annoyance Booth looked to the people that were watching before he wriggled his toes that were encased in his striped socks. So many people, so many lives that could be lost. He was going to have to end this fast.
Alright, this was enough. This guy might have not done anything to harm anyone that he could see yet, he could see the killer, the time bomb in the wolf's eyes causing the sniper to shutter inconspicuously at the bonfire. Never, never in his whole career of reading guys like this had he felt so challenged, so in danger; which reminded him again of his duty to his friends. If he felt in danger, how much of a chance would his son be in danger -- his partner? Snarling as the urge for action grew, Booth realized this was it. He couldn't wait and let this bomb explode on his people: he had to stop the bomb. "Look pal, you've come into my territory, insulted my parenting skills -- which is wrong seeing as no monster like you could never be a father -- and, you've pissed me off. So guess what?-" Booth stopped as he fired his gun, missing, on purpose, enjoying the sight of his silver bullet pierce the heart of the angel that sat on the fountain top nearest Rei's head. "You're about to really hate my guts." he snuffed before he quickly tucked his gun into his holster like the flash before he turned to glance at Brooks out of the corner of his eye, the glint of concern for her predominant as he stepped so he was more in front of her, closer to the brute. "You get my boy outta here Brooks, please..." he pleaded quietly before he turned his eyes to focus on the criminal. "Keep him safe." he mumbled one last thing before he let out a snarl as the tall figure of a man dropped to reveal one angry Husky hybrid once again. Fangs barred and his eyes flaming, he leaped for all he believed in towards the larger wolf, no fear being shown as the act. Brown reflecting in the amber stones, Booth got ever close until finally, his large body collided with the titans' pushing them both into the fountain, sending the water bouncing up and spraying anyone nearby.
Going for what he had been trained for when it came to minimal damage, the Agent's canines sank into the dark ear of his enemy, twisting his head, not even realizing how much strength and power had gone into his attack until Booth felt himself stumble back, a chunk of the beast's ear dangling from his jaw. Shocked but not in any way sorry, the wolf-dog spat the ear piece out of his jaws before he turned his soaking head back to look at his opponent, growling as he felt his wet fur drip back into the fountain, but he didn't shake out his heavy coat. Stepping forward a little ways, feeling the water move out of his way, almost as in fear. "Get out." he snapped, opening his mouth a little ways to show off more of his menacing fangs. "Before I make you."

David clinging to her hand in the way terrified young ones do, Brooks found a less harsh part of herself to squeeze him gently back, flowing support and silent reassurance. However, the woman's focus was never shifted from this ivory beast before her, tracking hazel optics on every move that he made.
If illusions had been thrown down, caution away to the wind in their dedication, a wolf would face a hybrid, hackles raised at least a quarter-inch as the growls swept through the square. Backing the hybrid silently but stoically, the oddly-coloured border collie added her snarls to the mix, left shoulder pronounced in front of a hybrid pup, peering from behind her legs. To the outsider, it would appear just a stand-off between canines, but the ones on the inside would know much more.
Starting a little as she was responded to, Brooks tensed, every muscle ready to move if the need called for it. Raising a lip in both appearances, the woman masked the shock that she felt as he spoke, brushed away the fear that started to creep up from behind. On some level, sure, she recognized those emotions, but not here. Not now. She had just received a full confession from a murderer in front of her, and there was no way she was letting go of either item in her hands.
Her hand was motionless, the black barrel pointing loyally towards the man, pronouncing a scowl on her face once more. No words sprang to life, just a glower and a subtle motion as she pulled David closer to her. She'd focus on what he said later, focus on just what "others" he could mean, back when they returned to the office. For now, though, David and Booth were her main priorities, as they almost always were and would be.
Booth's response was a typical one, expected from two males who found themselves at odds with each other. A classic territory battle, that's what this had turned into. Sparing a moment to roll her hazel optics, she couldn't think of a worse time to squabble over dominance than now. As the gunshot echoed around the fountain, Brooks instinctively drew back, pulling David along with her until he was firmly against her side. Knowing that Booth was the only one that had the weapon comforted her, but it only took one aggravator to elevate the situation to a hostile one.
Meeting Booth's gaze lasted no more than a few seconds, but that was all the two partners needed. Hearing what he said and nodding quickly, she too dropped her gun, scooping up the kid into her arms like a pro before giving one last glare at Reiketsu, and disappearing from sight.
Panic setting in a little as she walked away from her partner, Brooks was decidedly without a clue, not knowing where she was going or what she was about to do with David. All she knew was that every second she lingered, she left her partner alone with that crazy beast by the fountain. Scanning the park, no agents, or people even, were in sight, all agents having left with the first guy that Booth had arrested. Sighing in exasperation, her hazel eyes finally lit upon a trash can that came up to about her waist and was more than wide enough for a kid to fit in. "Uh... stay here for a while, okay? See what you can find. Um... Don't eat anything!" Scooping the boy up under his armpits, Brooks deposited the boy into the relatively empty trash can, glancing him over quickly before running back to her partner.
Well, she did get David out of the situation! And what harm could he find in a trash bin? Dropping her illusion just as a splash was heard, Brooks' ears perked up and she began running, the fastest of canines sprinting back to the fountain with her pearls exposed. Blinking in surprise at her drenched partner, and what looked like a bloodied piece of cloth sitting a foot or so away from them, she stopped short, a few feet behind her partner before she murmured words only Booth could hear. "What the hell did you do?"

SHAI The wolf smirked a bit at the alarm that filled the mans eyes upon noticing his opponent standing on the fountain. For a macho tough guy he was trying to be, it was rather humorous to see him jump at just the simple action. Then again, nothing is to considered 'simple' when dealing with rei. The words that came out of the hybrids mouth, they simply rolled off rei like water on glass. Though slowly, as one simple comment sat and seemed to start to sink in, reis smile slowly disappeared, his mind drawing back from the fight at hand back to kaze and his kids that were on the way. If the wolf-dog had known how close to home he had hit that ball, he's probably have taken more advantage of the situation. Only the sound of a gunshot and the ricochet of the bullet off of stone brought the wolf back to the man before him, though not fully in the battle yet as he still mulled over the words that he had spat at him. He hardly noticed as the woman and child took off for cover, and was roughly brought back to reality when he felt the force of the agent crash into him, sending the two sprawling into the fountain. It took only a moment for rei to register what had happened, feeling the fangs that tore at his right ear. The wolf let out an enraged snarl, ripping his head back as the male twisted, ultimately taking off a chunk of the ear.
Greenish maroon blood oozed out from the wound, dripping down the white fur which was now bristled as the great beast stood his full height, tail high in the air along with his skull as he too bore his large fangs, bass growl going deeper than the others. Booth snapped, telling him to leave with the pathetic threat following after. Rei tilted his head back, allowing a barking laugh to escape his throat before he glared back down at the smaller opponent. "You sir have just pissed off the last person in the world you would want to see pissed off." he snarled out, taking two steps forward when booth took his one, challenging him- no, daring him to try his little stunt again when he was paying attention. This mutt had no clue what he was getting into, but he'd soon come to regret it. The womans arrival went almost un-noticed by the lunar beast, only her soft voice causing his left ear to swivel back and take in the sounds she made, a smile spreading across his wolven lips and revealing even more of his fangs as he turned to look at her. The man was forgotten as the massive wolf leapt out from the fountain, covering a good 7 feet with a single bound from his stand-still position and landing with a soft thud, water trickling down to the concrete with a nice melodic tink each time a drop hit the ground. He took a few steps toward the woman, his head low, tail high, and hackles raised as he smiled, ambers locked onto blues as he stood a meer lunge away, staring her down before he let his eyes glide to the corner of his vision, watching for booth and the action he would take upon seeing the female in danger.

Weaknesses. No matter who it is, you'll find a weakness, some, worse than others. Weaknesses tend to eat at the individual, daring, holding the knife to their throats, always testing the worthiness, the courage in an individual to keep going. It's sick really, but it's a part of life. Some will find weaknesses in cravings, some maybe in greed, and others will find their weaknesses being people. Not that that's a bad thing, but it sure can have results that are fatal. People see someone in trouble, usually someone they love, they're bound to act -- bound to leap into the fray and to not give up. They fight the good fight, the will being found in the simple word that expresses a connection behind like. Love. Another weakness. And yet, looking closely, love is more than just a weakness: It's a power. With ferocity beyond that of normal, adrenaline begins to pump, sending muscles to expand, the flight instincts to curl up and fade, and send someone in front of a bullet without fear. Love protects, love banishes fear, it sends someone through a passion unforgettable, and yet, can kill. It's something to be handled with care, to make sure your weakness won't end you so early in the game. Handle with care.
And how can a father not love? How can he find that his "weakness" isn't love? More than not, at least for Booth, he would do anything for his kid. He'd withstand torture, fire and brimstone, emotional strife, and death to ensure that love can have a life with his one and only son who meant more than the world to him. So could anyone expect any true different plan of action from the get-go? Sure, the man, the psycho freak of a man hadn't started in an action that seemed violent, but over the years, and with almost a sixth sense to be able to feel the emotions -- the fear in his kid had told him that such things shouldn't be taken lightly. So here he was, having have already taken that one bold step in love, to defend his responsibilities and to be the man he had to be if it so called for it. And yet -- he still didn't feel like he was doing such a great job. He'd managed to so far save two people that were obviously worth dying for, but this guy was unrelenting, how long could he keep it up? But then again, he didn't need to worry about that, not now. He still had the fight, he still had raging passion and that was good enough. Human in form, Booth pulled himself up more out of the water, standing tall watching the beast in intensity before distractions came to play. Hearing a half-anxious whisper from behind, Booth's ears seemed to pull back, listening, but his gaze was smart enough to stay on track with the wolf. "Apparently I pissed him off" he mumbled back, wiping his mouth with his hand, taking in a quick breath, calming his system. That is -- until he noticed that Brooks was back...and he had no idea where David was. Nerves now whacking at him, his heart rate increased once more and he took a quick moment to look about the square before he turned his eyes back towards the villain, his teeth gritted openly as if trying to hide his worry with courage.
If anything now, Booth wanted to just ask Brooks where the hell she put his kid, but of course, things don't tend to go as planned. Right before he could say a word, he had to duck out of instinct as the massive white form took a chance to do something that of course, sent dread to run up his spine. He'd found it. Another weakness in the system that was Booth: his partner. Sure, he'd never lost a partner before, he wasn't scarred and so afraid of going through traumatic events again, but, it was his partner, and there was always a first. She was his coffee buddy, the one he could rely on to be laconic on stake outs when he couldn't, necessary to keep him positive, ever fighting. And if he lost her... Well, that wouldn't happen. "Blue!" he yelled out, but left not another moment's hesitation as the beast landed in front of her. Pulling his legs quickly free from the loose grip of the water, the Agent quickly found his feet back on the hard cobblestone beneath, and his legs not stopping there. With one final growl, Booth wasted no time as he watched the illusion over her corpse toppling to the ground and the stain of her blood on the muzzle of the insane. That wouldn't happen. Not today, not ever. Nothing more to it, Booth collided from the side, wrapping one muscled arm around the wolf's neck, as he practically barreled shoulder first into the white wolf, his plan playing out the best it could as he pulled the wolf with him down to the ground, never minding the impact that came to his side from the ridged stones below as he did his best to keep the wolf in his choke hold, scrambling to make sure the wolf, couldn't try anything. "Cuffs dammit!" he yelled out as his arm tensed, and the cold that came before sweat lighted on his forehead. Through gritted teeth as he kept to his struggle front his knees now, Booth kept up his strength in hopes it would pay off. But hell, he knew this wolf was huge and strong, he wasn't sure if this was gonna be in anyway effective in the end. "If you're...wondering, I'mma arrest you for taking...the offensive-looking threat against an Agent. An you better believe it'll be enough..." he finally growled out before once again he pleaded with his partner to hurry through the tone in his voice. "Brooks!"

Sure as hell you pissed him off. To any outsider, it would be pretty obvious as to what went down. Two men got into a fight over a lady, it escalated to violence, and there you had it. They wouldn't see the ear that had been ripped off; To the average human, the scene would be set as one man pushing another into a fountain, nothing to see. Time to move on. Not so for anyone involved.
Her gun on her hip for only a few seconds longer, pearl incisors were covered by humanized lips, giving away no further trace of the Border Collie that stood in place of the woman. Hands that gave nothing of the unease racing through her body gripped at the holster that held her gun, wasting no time as she pointed the muzzle at the white figure that stood just in front of her partner.
Yes, her partner. The man who she trusted with her life on and off the workforce was there, securing her back as always. (Well, in this case her front). Adding to the multitude of adjectives and ways to describe him, one new one topped the list. He had roughly the same ability to stay out of trouble as a five year old. Masking her mild annoyance, her hazels remained trained on the wolf in front of her, both males drenched to the core. Border Collie and Wolf locked eyes, enemies since the time of shepherding and beyond, likely. It was bred in the bones to hate each other, and those emotions were seeping out through every pore at this time. This beast in front of Brooks right now? He endangered her partner's son, was terrorizing and slaughtering the humans in her city, and if that wasn't bad enough? Foolish enough to pick a fight with her partner.
That's not to say that the woman wasn't surprised, however, as the huge white figure leapt at her. Barely able to cling to the composure needed to stand her ground, only her arms twitched, the pistol following Reiketsu's chest with every moment. As his scent, amplified by the unexpected dunk into the water reached her nostrils, there was nothing else to do but reveal her fangs once more, letting a slow rumble of a growl make itself known to the surrounding spectators. "You think I won't shoot? Take another step and we'll find out--..."
As a canine, hidden beneath the guise of the human, her posture nearly matched the wolf's in front of her, looking almost doll-like in scale. The only difference was the levels to which their tales rose; Brooks was at half mast, while the wolf's had risen like a lighthouse to all around. Her ears, floppy on her best days and a complete catastrophe on the rest had pinned back, the base supporting the rest of the extremity. Brooks' whole body tensed once more, the muscles clearly seen through her skin and evident in her posture. She was practically daring him to take another step towards her, taunting with her big blue eyes to see just how she'd defend herself if the situation arose.
Nothing could have predicted the surprise that was born from the next series of events. Focus immediately torn away from the current scenario, her rumbling growl choked off in a light questioning bark as her wolf-dog partner launched himself towards the white beast, nearly dropping the gun as the surprise registered. Silently, she thanked pure luck and skill that she didn't act on her instinct to shoot the wolf; if she had, the bullet would have been lodged in her partner by now.
Her gun had whipped back into it's holster, the owner muttering enough profanities to make a sailor blush. Reacting in a purely robotic manner, she reached for the silver chains that hung from her back pocket at all times, using canine legs to cross the distance faster than the human could. Switching from hands to paws and to hands again, the woman maneuvered the chains with dexterity, waiting until the clicks sounded twice before pulling back, hesitating before verifying that Booth had the beast secure.
"Honestly, Booth. I can fight my own battles you know."
